At Lahey Hospital & Medical Center’s Institute of Urology, our Endourology Program focuses on the minimally invasive treatment of conditions such as kidney stones, enlarged prostate, scarring of the ureters and cancer of the lining of the kidneys and ureters.

The procedures used to treat these conditions are typically performed with small, highly advanced endoscopes, without the need for any incisions.

Conditions Treated

Led by Jessica Mandeville, MD, the Endourology Program is dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of patients with the following conditions:

  • Kidney and ureteral stone disease, including complex staghorn stones and stone disease in patients with complex genitourinary anatomy, such as patients with prior kidney or ureteral surgery or those with prior bladder replacement surgery
  • Metabolic kidney stone diseases, including rare conditions that cause severe kidney stone disease such as cystinuria, hyperoxalurias (including hyperoxaluria due to bowel disease), renal tubular acidosis, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, idiopathic hypercalciuria, and uric acid stones/hyperuricosuria
  • Ureteral strictures, such as congenital ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction and postoperative ureteral strictures
  • Malignant tumors of the ureter and kidney
