Surgery may be done in women who:

  • Are not helped by other methods
  • Want to become pregnant
  • Have sudden changes

The 2 main surgeries are:

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a type of surgery done through small cuts in the belly. Small tools and a scope with a tiny camera are placed through the cuts. This lets the doctor see inside. Other tools will help to take out tissue that is not normal.

Hysterectomy

Hysterectomy removes the uterus. The ovaries and fallopian tubes may be removed at the same time. Any other growths may also be removed.

You will no longer be able to become pregnant. Menopause will also start if the ovaries are removed.
