Asthma is a long-lasting health problem. It makes the airways inflamed and narrow. This can limit airflow and make it hard to breath. It can cause mild to severe wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.

Indoor and outdoor triggers can make symptoms worse. They cause attacks in some people who have asthma. Examples of triggers are pollen, mold, smoke, and viruses.
