Screening for Cancer

Lahey’s radiology department offers a number of modalities to help pinpoint and treat cancer.  Below are our programs in three of the more common cancers.

Breast Health Center

At the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, you have easy access to a full range of breast health services from an expert team of specialists. We offer the latest in breast imaging, including 2-D and 3-D mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI, minimally invasive breast biopsies, treatments for benign and malignant breast disease, genetic counseling and risk assessment. In addition, Lahey patients will be offered the Cancer Risk Assessment (CRA) at the time of their screening mammogram – a tool to establish a patient’s lifetime risk for developing breast cancer. Our patient-focused care assures each patient is treated with respect and compassion.

Lung Cancer Screening Program

Lahey Health is a pioneer and leader in low-dose computed tomography (LDCT), an extraordinary way to find lung cancer at the earliest stage possible. If you are at high risk for lung cancer, the time to be screened is now – and the place to be screened is at Lahey.

We have the largest clinical lung cancer screening program in the country. Thousands of people have already been screened for lung cancer through Lahey.

Of the lung cancers that we’ve discovered with the LDCT screening, most were found in stage 1 – the most curable stage.

Liver Cancer Screening

Lahey also offers innovative screening programs for patients at higher risk for liver cancer, including those with hepatitis or who have undergone a transplant.
