The Breast Imaging fellowship position is a one-year position at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center.
The fellowship position will provide comprehensive training in all aspects of breast imaging including screening and diagnostic mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and all breast imaging related procedures. Special attention will be paid to all advanced breast imaging techniques. Advanced expertise will be gained in all interventional procedures including stereotactic core needle biopsies, tomosynthesis guided core needle biopsies, ultrasound guided procedures, MRI guided biopsies, needle aspirations, and wire and non-wire needle localizations. Direct involvement in the weekly Breast Tumor Conference is a component of the training which adds depth and breadth of pathology and treatment correlation with the imaging findings. Educational and research activities are strongly encouraged and supported with academic time provided for these activities.
Lahey Health is a high-volume screening organization and performs over 40,000 breast imaging exams a year with over 120 DBT screening mammograms per day. We are in the process of building an outpatient 11,000 square foot state-of-the-art comprehensive breast center in Burlington, MA.
In addition to comprehensive breast training, the fellow will also function as a part-time general radiologist allowing for maintenance of skills in general radiology including plain films, body CT and body ultrasound. The part-time attending status has associated part-time attending-level salary and benefits.
Fellows will have academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Majority of the fellow’s time is spent at Lahey’s main campus located in Burlington, MA — within 30 minutes of historic Boston and Cambridge.
